Wendell attended Butler schools and Graduated in 1939. He worked for hisfather at the Garage , then on January 4, 1942 he married Marjorie FayeBowman, only daughter of D. Hugh and Grac e Lucille (Bemiller) Bowman ofNewville, Ohio. Wendell served in the 1550th Service Unit of the United States Armyfrom July 16,1942 unt il March 1946. He graduated from Dental TechnicalSchool at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana af ter which he served as adental technician (T-5) at Fort Knox, Kentucky. After his discharge, Wendell, Marjorie, and two sons lived on Wilsonroad, Worthington To wnship. At this time he started working for OhioPubic Service, now Ohio Edison, as a lineman . In April 1948 they bought ahome at 48 College St. Butler, Ohio and lived there until 1991 w hen theybuild a house at 238 Highland Dr. Butler, Ohio. Wendell and Marjorie are the parents of four children, Roger Allen1942 in May 1974 he ma rried Linda Morrow 1950. Their children are;Jeromey Kendall 1975; Sonyia Allison 1976; and Sh awna Willeen Mae 1982.Roger lives in Mansfield, Ohio. Terry Lee 1945 in August 1963 marriedSa ndra Kay Agin 1946. Their children are; Terresa Kay 1964 and Tracie Ann1967. Terresa marrie d Rodney Baker in 1981. Terry build a home onButler-Newville Road, Worthington Township. Darl a Sue lives in Butler,Ohio. Keith William 1952 married Patricia Jayne (Stewart) Burger 1944 , onMarch 20,1976. Keith has three step-children Shelby (Burger) Williams1962, Jeffrey Burger 1963, and Sonja 1964. and one Step Grandchild Sheila MarieWilliams 1982. Wendell retired in October 1981 after 35 years with Ohio Edison as alineman and a troubl e shooter. I remember him as a man who love to tinker. He would build anything outof anything. He ha d a number of birdhouses for purple martins. One dayI remember coming home from school and h e was putting a windmill that hemade out of wood and a licence plate. It stayed on the garag e for almostfifteen years before it finally fell. When I was a small child, he usedto tak e me outside and show me the moon. I was scared to death of it forsome reason. I remember h im taking me for a ride in his ladder truckwhen I was about 6. He was an avid golf fan. I r emember that one timehe shot a hole in one and had the ball saved on his windowsill with then ewspaper clipping about it. After he retired, He and Marge spent thewinters in Fort Meade, F lorida. He had a trailer down there he calledhis "Aluminum Box". He had a lemon and grapefr uit tree that he hadstarted from seeds before he retired. He had been growing them in potsfo r several years in his office, and then took them down to Florida. Iremember having grapefru it for breakfast every morning. I can rememberwhen Sonyia and I were young, he and Marge wo uld take us to Buster Brownto get a new pair of shoes. We would get a helium balloon and hav eballoon races up the stairs. The also took us to Ceder Point severaltimes. He used to hav e these little cats in the back window of hisstation wagon that would move their heads when t he car was shook. Ireally liked those. At his funeral, a number of people told me that they had "Never heard abad thing about Wendel l Ward". When the precession was on it's way tothe grave, it started to snow very hard. I t was the first snow of theyear. It was almost like nature saluting the man who had fought s o hardagainst it all these years. It was nearly a white out for a few hours.He was buried wi th full military honors including a 21 gun salute. Iwill miss him very much.

Terry's thing is old cars. He has a Model T Ford truck that was his grandfathers that he res tored from what he found in a barn.. It is the most beautiful automobile that I have ever se en. What he couldn't fix, he remachined. I always liked to go down to see him. He has a re c room to die for. Pool table, satellite TV, dart board etc.. Any time we went down to se e grandpa and grandma my siblings and I would always try to con my dad into going down to Ter ry's. He has a pond with a diving board and a sliding board.
